anesthetics and God...

the anesthetist i was working with today asked "now... who connected these cables?"...  he was referring to the invasive monitoring cables... these cables were connected to transducers which were placed on  a transducer holder, clamped unto a pole... and i knew how to connect the cables... i was thought how to connect the cables... ive seen others connect the cables... but the point is, the anesthetist was going to unclamp the holder and re-clamp it unto another pole... but the way ive connected the cables made it impossible for him to do that... what he had to do was to disconnect the cables, move the transducer holder unto another pole and re-connect the cables again... but he has connected the cables in such a way that there wun be an problem removing the holder again if needed...

alright... chances are... u prob wun understand what ive described above... but wat i wanna share is that... many times we do certain things because we see others do so... or we were taught to do so... we were told that these things are good for us... so we put in our 100% in learning and doing it... everything seems to look nice and beautiful... everything looks smooth... but then comes the Master Planner... and He wants to move things around... He looks at what we've done as goes "now... how am i going to move things around when u've done things like this?"... so, He has to break everything, move things around, and re-build it again...

and so we ask... what have we done wrong...? the cables were connected correctly...!!! its working.. there were readings and everything was working fine until, you, the anesthetist, decides to move it to another pole... just like our ministries, our plans, our hopes, our decisions... we did everything correctly... exactly the way we were taught to do... we go to church... we tithe... we invest... we study... we do lots of things... until God comes around and go... alright.. i wanna shift things around... and we go like... why...??

and we come to a thought... oh.. just because ur the anesthetist u can move things around as u please ay... so God is God.. well if He wanna do something, why didnt He tell us earlier... why after we've settled things... connected everything... when things looks nice and peaceful, then u wanna change it... does He know how much effort we've put in to come to this point...???

i realized that more often than not, if we understand the bigger picture of what is happening, we can avoid such situations... so, if i actually took the time to think through and understand the whole process and procedure of what the anesthetist is going to do, i would anticipate that he will wanna change the position of the transducer holder... similarly, if we can see the bigger picture of what we're doing... or shud i say of what God has plan for us, then we will be able to position ourselves and anticipate changes to bring us closer to the fulfillment of God's plan for us... we need to understand what we're doing and not just blindly or absentmindedly do things... be it work.. pleasure.. ministry... relationships... anything...!!

the plus thing about God is that we can communicate with Him... if we dun know, we can always ask Him... He will not withhold anything from us... the bible says in Matt 7:7 "ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you shall find it, knock and the door will be opened to you." in Jeremiah 33:3-9 "call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."

be blessed... hugs... love God... love life... love others as yourself... =)

  1. Thanks Esther, I am also learning this. I believe everything has it's own purpose. Even if we think it's a waste of time, there is still more things we can pick up from mistake and learning from the past. Even if the way you connect the cable doesn't suit anesthetist's need, but as least you know how to connect it, then you'll understand why he would like to connect that way. Much better then you don't know what he is doing! God Bless and let's work hard together!!

  2. God certainly sees our wholehearted effort. And yes as Christian don't you think we're always walking on a longer and rather rugged path than the non-believe ones? Everything that we do now is an experience with God that God wants us to experience, and thru the expereience we experience the perfectionism of God (haha...:P) I guess God wants us to have wider vision too...because..we'd only be able to spread His gospel to others when we have different experiences :D
